A two story addition of approximately 36,600sf is being added to the existing five-story Prior Health Sciences Library. The addition will accommodate the College of Medicine’s new Clinical Skills Education and Assessment Center, providing clinical simulation labs, clinical instruction and classroom spaces. The newly created simulation center will promote and provide high quality clinical education and high fidelity assessment of skills and procedures, with the ultimate intent being to advance patient care.
The Center’s vision is to foster educational innovation and allow Ohio State to expand existing programs, launch new instructional techniques, and employ new outcomes assessments with the goal of training competent, compassionate professionals. Fostering educational research as it applies to the teaching and assessment of clinical knowledge, skills, and attitudes is another important goal.
The center will also incorporate advanced technological innovations including Human Patient Simulators (HPS), Virtual Reality Labs, and ability to provide remote skills assessment sessions through AV enhancements.
